"DV4 are genuinely thrilled to have technically assisted for students to ask questions directly to astronaut and ISS Commander Takuya Onishi while he orbited Earth at 27,600 km/h."
Simon Fine - Business Development Manager, dv4
We are still genuinely thrilled to have been part of this event. Students from 9 Dublin primary Schools participating in TU Dublin’s STEM: Try Five project talked live with astronaut and ISS Commander Takuya Onishi as he orbited over Europe at 27,600 km/h in the International Space Station. The contact was made via Amateur Radio at 13:11 on June 4 2025.
This activity was part of the ARISS (Amateur Radio on the International Space Station) Program, which promotes links between Schools and radio amateurs around the world with ISS astronauts to promote STEM with an emphasis on amateur radio - Funded by TU Dublin and Workday, Research Ireland, ESERO, the Department of Education and Workday
An entertaining short clip of this event featured later that day on the evening Virgin Media News which you can watch here https://vimeo.com/1092072853?fl=tl&fe=ec
